Out of Pocket Calculator Help
Maximum Annual Out of Pocket
The Maximum Annual Out of Pocket is specified in the Deductibles/Maximums
Sheet. This amount refers to the maximum amount you have to pay per year out of
pocket for applicable requirements, and after the maximum is met, any remaining
applicable out of pocket requirements are waived for the remainder of the year.
Not all plans include counting the same requirements towards the maximum.
Coinsurance is routinely included in the maximum out of pocket requirement, and the
General Deductible is typically excluded. However, copayments and the specific
Hospital Deductible are handled differently, with some plans including these
amounts, and some excluding them. The default calculation in the Models assumes
that all requirements except the General Deductible are counted towards the
Maximum Annual Out of Pocket determination.
You should only make this entry if you don’t want to use the default value provided in your model (meaning you want to
customize your entry based on a specific health plan you are using in your
scenario).
