1. How myHealthChoices provides price transparency for out of pocket expenses:

The myHealthChoices Out of Pocket Cost Calculator offers an easy to use, customizable tool that allows consumers and employers to estimate out of pocket costs for a variety of pre-defined hospitalizations, or for any specified dollar amount of gross charges, based upon health plan parameters that can be easily changed by the user. The end result provides a more meaningful figure for consumers to work with as opposed to getting price transparency on gross retail charges or contract rates.

2. How myHealthChoices helps influence Consumer and Employer Health Plan Selection:

myHealthChoices first works with the hospital to identify the appropriate health plans that the hospital contracts with, to be featured as choices available for that market.

myHealthChoices then designs web pages with general and custom health plan selection resources including a resource center that provides additional information and links to these health plans. General information is also provided with credible data, documents and links and other resources to provide general assistance in health plan selection. Components are created targeting consumers and employers.

The myHealthChoices Out of Pocket calculator, the unique tool that compares health plan out of pocket costs for hospitalizations, is then customized for that marketplace.

This section, unique to the hospital, can be linked from the myHealthChoices home page, plus it is established as a separate unique domain name and/or is integrated into the hospital's existing web site, for local marketing purposes.

Consumers and Employers then access the national web site, local web site, or call center to obtain health plan selection resource information, including information on these available health plans.

3. How myHealthChoices helps arrange Consumer Choice products and services:

myHealthChoices has arranged a number of strategic partnerships with leading companies offering applicable products and services, including individual consumer health care credit lines, individual hospital supplement benefit policies, consumer driven debit cards, consumer driven health care plans, private labeled managed care plans and value added services.

These products and services are not mandatory under the myHealthChoices program, but are optional add-in components. myHealthChoices program marketing and distribution is used to promote such products and services, in addition to the marketing resources deployed by the applicable strategic partner.

4. How myHealthChoices performs program marketing and distribution:

The myHealthChoices program is promoted as a resource to help consumers and employers choose and use health plans, select health care services, and find resources to help fund consumer cost sharing.

myHealthChoices uses a multi-channel approach in marketing and distribution, including Internet, medical staff physician offices, local insurance agents and direct mail. Both national and local-specific marketing resources are deployed.

On a national basis, the myHealthChoices web site and name is promoted to consumers and employers as a resource for health plan selection and consumer choice information. Promotion is conducted through marketing of the myHealthChoices web site, and national targeted marketing to employers and insurance agents through e-newsletters, trade shows and direct mail. Consumers and Employers are offered free memberships in myHealthChoices that provide e-newsletters and services, and can tie them into value added benefits arranged with strategic partners.

On a local basis, the following distribution channels are promoted:

In addition to the flyer and direct mail distribution that directs consumers and employers to the web site, optional local newspaper and radio advertising may be deployed.

5. How myHealthChoices provides Consumer Choice resources to the medical staff:

myHealthChoices provides e-choices, a physician service including e-newsletters, a special web site with ongoing consumer choice news and physician tips, and a forum where questions and experience can be shared across the country. Medical staff designated by the hospital are given the opportunity to receive free subscriptions to e-choices.

6. How myHealthChoices trains and positions the hospital for Consumer Choice:

myHealthChoices provides a Consumer Driven Care Training Kit CD-ROM site license to the hospital, to serve as an ongoing e-learning and reference resource to applicable hospital and medical staff regarding consumer choice. myHealthChoices also conducts live in-person or audioconference training sessions on Consumer Driven Care 101 and Beyond in conjunction with the Training Kit. myHealthChoices provides e-newsletters and web resources with ongoing consumer choice news, data and market intelligence, including a forum where questions and experience can be shared across the country. myHealthChoices is also available for ongoing telephone consultation regarding answering questions on Consumer Driven Care strategic issues, current market intelligence and more.

7. How myHealthChoices is implemented at the hospital

myHealthChoices prepares a proposal for the hospital, which can reflect a significant amount of customization of the various program components. After the proposal is accepted, myhealthChoices will request core information from the hospital, including lists of applicable health plans; applicable hospital management contact information for training, flyer distribution, and reporting; applicable medical staff contact information for training, e-choices, and flyer distribution; and any available relevant local market intelligence. myHealthChoices is responsible for administration of the program, and the hospital will not need to hire additional staff tin this regard. The hospital will need to provide liaisons for hospital implementation of any desired strategic partner products or services, and conduct review of local web site, flyers, direct mail and any desired local advertising pieces.
